If Discord stops working, first distinguish a service outage from a device, network or regional access problem. A VPN may offer a different route, but it cannot guarantee Discord access, account eligibility or uninterrupted voice calls.
Check the underlying connection
Try another ordinary website and confirm that the network itself is working. A public Wi-Fi network may require a sign-in portal before any app can connect. Update the Discord client and operating system, and read any message from the service before changing network settings.
If only voice or video is affected, record that distinction. A page loading successfully does not mean every real-time connection is available. Network filtering, congestion and service conditions can affect different parts of an application differently.
Using a VPN where access is restricted

Choosing an available location
The app may display countries such as Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States or Singapore. Check the actual location list and your access entitlement rather than treating this example list as a live directory. These names are not website buttons that connect you to a VPN.
Try another available location if the connection is unstable. Do not infer a guaranteed ping, bandwidth or service-unblocking result from a country’s name. Your underlying connection and the destination’s behavior still affect performance.
If access still fails
